"Laurel Star" - Civil War Reenactment Saddle

This saddle was built for a customer who wanted to use it in Civil War reenactments. It is built on a modified modern side saddle tree. The leaping and upright horns are cut down and narrowed to give it a slimmer silhouette like the older antique saddles. The seat on the front far side is modified with a swell to appear more like the old Morgan side saddle. All new patterns for the leather had to be designed due to these extensive modifications.

The leather used is natural vegetable-tanned, oiled leather complimented with floral tooling on all the quarter panels. The seat is covered with burgundy suede. The suede also covers the padded portions of the upright and leaping horns and a half padded safe. The finishing touches are alternating gold tassels and crystal teardrops bordering the seat and hand-made solid brass buttons.

This saddle is fitted with western rigging; however, it can be changed over to English rigging.
